Jorvik is a Matrix client that arranges a homeserver the way a chat app
should feel: Spaces are servers, rooms are channels, and end-to-end
      encryption is on by default.

It is built on Matrix, an open network: an account on matrix.jorvik.app
can talk with people on other Matrix servers, and the same account works
      in other Matrix apps.

Features:

Spaces and channels, with nested subspaces

End-to-end encrypted messages and encrypted media

Voice channels, and calls from a profile

Custom emoji

Desktop notifications and an unread badge on the tray icon

Choose exactly who sees the game you're playing, and Steam games show their own icon.

Activity privacy: choose exactly who sees what you're playing (friends, all spaces, small spaces only, or per space), hide specific games, and keep your status message separate. Activity is end-to-end encrypted and never stored in room history

It has its own page in Settings, Activity Privacy, in place of "Show the game I'm playing", and a switch in the status menu. If you had that on, it stays on, now shared with your friends and spaces of up to 200 people

Steam games show their own icon next to your name and on your profile. It's end-to-end encrypted too, and nobody's app contacts Steam to show it

The status menu says what Online and Idle do: Online goes idle by itself while you're away, and Idle stays until you change it

Show the game you're playing, and see the status people set.

New in Settings, Privacy & Safety: "Show the game I'm playing". It's off until you turn it on. While it's on, your status shows the game you're playing, from Steam or a list of popular games, and only its name is shared. The Flatpak and Snap versions can't see other programs, so it isn't available there

The status people set for themselves now shows in the member list and on their profile

Copying messages copies just the messages. Before, the emoji of the buttons and reactions under them came along

Stickers sent from other Matrix apps show in the chat. Before, they only marked it unread

If this session is signed out from another device, Jorvik goes to the sign-in screen and says why, instead of showing old chats

Sign out next to a session in Settings, Devices opens its confirmation right under that session. In a long list it used to open out of sight at the top, so the button seemed to do nothing. Enter now confirms the password

The .deb and .rpm packages depend on ALSA, so Jorvik also starts on minimal systems that don't have it yet

The gear on the sign-in screen opens Server settings, where you can sign in to or create an account on another Matrix server. Jorvik keeps it until you change it. Voice channels, calls and GIFs still need a server that runs Jorvik's voice service

Sign out, deleting a message, leaving and the other questions use Jorvik's own confirmation, which works in every browser

When the server can't be reached, sign-in says so plainly

On a phone, chat.jorvik.app has a layout of its own: your spaces and chats, a chat full screen, and swipes to go back or to see who's there

Push notifications for chat.jorvik.app on phones and in browsers: turn them on in Settings, Notifications. On an iPhone, add Jorvik to the Home Screen first

Hold a message on a touch screen to open its menu
